Tensions are escalating between the federal government and its coalition partners over the potential replacement of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has issued a stern warning, threatening to leave the federal government if Governor Kamran Tessori is removed from office.
MQM-P senior leader Farooq Sattar stated that it was agreed with the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) before the government's formation that Kamran Tessori would remain as the Sindh Governor.
Farooq Sattar emphasised that if the government goes ahead with the replacement, MQM-P will have no reason to continue its participation in the federal government.
It is worthy to mention that yesterday, MQM-P head Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui called on President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss the overall political situation in the country.
The meeting, which signifies the growing closeness between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and MQM-Pakistan, was also attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
President Zardari assured MQM's chairman of his full cooperation in addressing these concerns.
