Another harassment case surfaced at the University of Karachi after a member of the teaching staff accused the department’s head of harassing her, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The female staff member is an assistant professor who formally filed a complaint with the varsity administration. As a result, a notice has been sent to Ghulam Muhammad Burfat who is the head of the Criminology Department.
Now, Burfat will appear before the harassment committee on December 15, whose convenor sent a notice to the accused.
Women are facing these problems everywhere in the country but the sad thing is that senior teachers have been found involved in the practice.
Last month, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman – in his capacity of chancellor of the public sector universities in the province, ordered an inquiry into alleged harassment of girl students by teachers of Islamia College University.
The students had said that the harassment cases by teachers and their male colleagues were growing in the university as the administration had failed to take action against the culprits.
