PM, govt to blame in case of clash, says Rana Sana

Lahore police get green signal for crackdown: Maryam says the rulers’ boat is sinking

December 12, 2020 05:43 PM

PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Saturday warned that Prime Minister Imran Khan and the government would be responsible if any untoward incident happened during the PDM rally in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to reporters, Rana Sana said the government was continuously creating hurdles and any incident could happen in the given scenario but vowed that the rally would be held at Minar-e-Pakistan as they had taken control of the Greater Iqbal Park.

“I want to warn Imran Khan that it is a peaceful rally. The leaders will address it peacefully. [But] If the government continued interfering then any incident can happen for which the Bani Gala government, the administration would be responsible,” said the senior PML-N leader.

He asked the civil servants not to become servants of the puppet government as they would face cases and lose their jobs in case of any clash.

Challenging Imran to get cases registered while becoming a complainant himself, Rana Sana said arrangements for the rally – lighting, chairs and stage – would be completed by late Saturday night.

Demanding fresh elections immediately, the seasoned politician said the vote would be respected in the country resulting in the establishment of a democratic government by accepting the people’s verdict. “We are ready to face every threat for [achieving] our objective of [ensuring] respect for the vote,” Rana Sana promised.

Earlier, the government imposed a smart lockdown in areas adjacent to the Minar-e-Pakistan as the administration banned all gatherings besides closing all businesses and offices.

This strong statement came as the top opposition leaders once again ruled out the possibility of any talks with the government and promised close coordination after JUI-F chief Fazl phoned PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Earlier on Friday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N Vice-president Maryam Nawaz ruled out any compromise or talks with the government at a joint presser.

No One Can Save the Sinking Ship

Maryam on Saturday said no one could rescue the government’s boat which was sinking in the ocean of the people. “The ship is about to sink,” she added in a tweet.

Although Maryam did not mention the cabinet reshuffle but it was an obvious reference to the move under which the portfolios of Sheikh Rashid, Ijaz Shah and Azam Swati have been swapped among them.

Passengers are made to change their seats when a boat starts sinking to sustain balance, said the PML-N leader who added that the move would not produce the desired result.

Police get green signal

On the other hand, the Punjab government gave green light to police for a crackdown on the PML-N leaders and workers as paperwork has been completed for the house arrest/ detention of over 2,000 people.

It is reported that the decision was taken a meeting of provincial intelligence committee after which the police would obtain necessary permission from the district administration for the action to be taken on Saturday night.
