The top opposition leaders once again ruled out the possibility of any talks with the government and promised close coordination after JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman phoned PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
During the telephonic conversation, they discussed issues related to the PDM rally in Lahore and the latest political affairs as Fazl – who is also the opposition alliance’s head – briefed Nawaz and Zardari on the ever-changing situation in the country.
Sources say they again agreed that there won’t be any dialogue with the government and deliberated upon the planned long march, resignations from assemblies and other matters pertaining to the ongoing movement.
The news came just a day after PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the establishment’s role in government formation would have to come to an end, as PML-N Vice-president Maryam Nawaz again ruled out any compromise.
The two leaders were talking to media persons after Bilawal visited Jati Umra for offering his condolences to Maryam over the sad demise of her grandmother Begum Shamim Akhtar.
Bilawal said both the government and the facilitators would have to think and accept the people’s decision.
He ruled out any dialogue with the government and said the recent offer had been made as they were cowards and afraid of the people. Imran Khan should resign and leave the office himself, said the PPP chairman who added that the time for talks had long gone.
About resignations, Bilawal said they were ready to give the sacrifice of their government in Sindh, adding that those talking about any cracks in the PDM were just daydreaming.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam said the sitting ministers were in contact with the top PDM leaders for talks but she wasn’t interested in that and did not even consider it appropriate to give a reply.
The person who had been stating repeatedly that he won’t give any NRO was begging for talks. Neither the PDM nor the people would give any NRO to Imran, she remarked.
Maryam said she believed from the very beginning that the current government was bogus and there shouldn’t be any dialogue with them.
