Terming Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) a ‘dead horse’ of Karachi, senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Sindh minister Saeed Ghani said on Monday that the PPP’s opponents knew fully well that they did not have political future in Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) building in Islamabad along with other party leaders, he accused the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) of trying to sabotage the general elections by raising one objection after the other.
He said that all officers in the district administrations and the police department of Sindh had been transferred, and now not a single officer who was serving in the PPP government was serving.
He said it was unfortunate that the chief election commissioner (CEC), in talks with the PPP leaders today, did not address their concerns over the demarcations of constituencies in Karachi’s District East.
Speaking on the occasion, former state minister and PPP Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi said categorically that the party did not want delay in elections.
Another senior PPP leader Taj Haider said that he and other party leaders today gave suggestions to the CEC regarding holding free and fair elections.
