Stressing the need for enhancing Chinese investment in different sectors of Pakistan’s economy, President Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that the country was ready to provide every possible assistance to the investors from its closest ally, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to a delegation of Chinese businessmen, who called on him at Bilawal House, Karachi, the president said that Pakistan would welcome the Chinese investors. “The relations between the two countries are rooted in history since they are spread over decades,” he added.
Zardari informed the visitors that Chinese language courses had been introduced in Sindh, which, he hoped, would prove to be a milestone in further cementing cultural ties between the two nations.
He told the delegation that developing the Gwadar port was his vision so that it could become the regional economic hub.
Members of the delegation showed their interest in investing $1 billion in order to build a medical city in Pakistan so that the country’s health sector could develop.
They also showed their interest in investing their capital in agriculture, livestock, energy, transport and manufacturing sectors.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers and China’s consul general in Karachi were also present on the occasion.
