As continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country lowering the mercury in several cities and Balochistan city of Kalat was the hardest hit where the temperature dropped to -14 degrees Celsius, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted dense fog is likely in plain areas of Punjab and very cold weather is likely to prevail in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan, while cold and dry weather in the rest of the country.
However, the Meteorological Department predicted the weather will remain cold and dry in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday (today) and heavy fog likely to prevail in the plains of Punjab and Upper Sindh.

Tuesday’s lowest temperature (°C): Leh, Kalat -14°C, Skardu, Astore -13°C, Gupis -12 °C, Quetta -09 °C, Kalam, Hunza, Bagrote -08°C and Parachinar -06°C.
The TV channel reported that Karachi’s weather is likely to remain cold and dry where the temperature was recorded 6 degree Celsius. The Met Office said there is no rain expected in the city.
Flights
The flight operation has also been suspended due to fog around Allama Iqbal International Airport and four flights were delayed including PK203 to Dubai from Lahore airport, PK204 from Dubai, EY241 from Abu Dhabi to Lahore, EY242 to Abu Dhabi, QR 621 to Doha delayed for 12 hours and 45 minutes, Syrian Air ER 543 to Quetta delayed for three hours, Bahrain-bound GF765 delayed by two hours, ER 520 from Karachi delayed by four hours and ER 542 from Quetta was delayed for two and a half hours.
Train operation
The harsh weather conditions have also affected the train operation where Pakistan Express and Karachi Express arrived in Karachi with six hours delay. On the other hand, Rehman Baba Train and Green Line will arrive with a delay of two hours and thirty minutes and Pak Business, Tezgam and Allama Iqbal will arrive two hours late at the Karachi Railways Station.
