The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has increased the fees for plot transfer, map passing, and property file checking but the property dealers have rejected the departmental decision.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the LDA has increased the plot transfer fee from Rs7,000 to 16,000 per marla while the map passing fee has also been increased from Rs7 per square foot to Rs25 per square foot.
An urgent meeting of the Lahore Realtors and Property Dealers Associations was held here on Thursday in which President Johor Town Property Dealers Association Ghulam Mustafa, Chief Coordinator Johor Town Muhammad Saeed, Malik Usman, Javed Akhtar, Saqib Rafiq, Riyaz Kandahari, and others participated.
In the meeting, the association unanimously rejected an increase in property transfer, NOC, and other fees from the LDA.
The association expressed serious reservations about increasing the fees and rejected the increase in the annual fee for the building period of a plot of 20 marlas from Rs75,000 to Rs0.3 million.
The association's Johar Town chapter's President Akbar Chaudhry said LDA has increased property transfer fees by 700 percent which will create a big crisis in the real estate sector.
Other office bearers of the association said that the property owner has been charged a fee of 10,000 for checking his property file with is unjust to them.
The association members demanded the government and the Chairman of the LDA immediately withdraw the illegal increase in transfer fees.
