PIA flight delayed as plane’s window glass breaks at Jeddah Airport

January 12, 2023 02:23 PM

The return of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK741 was delayed for 16 hours after the window glass of Boeing 777 broke during landing at Jeddah Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the PIA sources, the return of the flight was delayed because the PIA crew did not have any replacement for the broken window glass.

Over 300 passengers faced with a great deal of inconvenience due to the delay in return of the flight.

It merits a mention here that the PIA plane, which had reached Jeddah from Islamabad on Wednesday, was to return on Thursday, with flight number PK740.

A window glass for the replacement has been sent to Jeddah through flight PK731 from Karachi.

The delay in the return of the flight will affect the schedule of flights to Jeddah till Friday.

At least eight flights and over 2,000 passengers will be affected by the delay.

“The window glass of the plane was broken during landing after being hit by something external to the plane,” the PIA spokesperson said.

“The plane will return home after the new window glass is installed in place of the broken one,” he added.
