Former Defence Minister Kh Asif has come down hard over the resignation of the senior most judge of the country’s top court Justice Ijazul Hasan.
Taking to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the PML-N leader said: “Even the honour is lost, pensions, privileges and property are protected
"We politicians struggle. Our family suffers too. We have no salary, no pension, no privilege, and prison term always looms over us.
What kind of system is it that the hands holding the scales of justice are in the pockets of the seekers and then have a safe exit to take the loot home…
“Such hands polluted this land of the pure the most.”
Justice Ijazul Ahsan resigned a day after Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi did the same. Naqvi was facing a Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) inquiry over allegations of misconduct, a show-cause notice for which was issued in October last year. On Tuesday, the apex court had rejected his request to stay the proceedings.
Faizabad sit-in commission
Talking to the media after showing up before the commission digging into the 2017 Faizabad sit-in, he said his statement will be completed soon
He said “The commission proceedings be open. There should be media coverage. People should know what has been done with the country for 75 years.
“All the commissions formed in the county did not bore fruit. Their findings have not been publicized. The time has come to pay for misdeeds.”
The former defence minister added: “Had Imran Khan's 2014 sit-in and Faizabad demo not been staged, I’m sure the May 9 tragedy would not have occurred.”
He continued: "The anti-state forces were so respected that finally, these forces challenged the writ of the state."
