In a decisive move to maintain peace in Kurram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram has issued a notification for the demolition of all bunkers in the highly disturbed area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, the order follows a provincial apex committee decision aimed at restoring peace in the region.
The DC directed the executive engineer (C&W) for Upper, Lower, and Central Kurram to take immediate action.
Specific instructions were given to begin dismantling bunkers in Balishkhel and Khar Kali without delay, with readiness to extend operations to other areas as necessary.
Work on bunker removal in Balishkhel and Khar Kali is set to commence today.
The demolition of these structures, often associated with sectarian conflict, marks a significant step toward de-escalating tensions in the region.
The decision to remove the bunkers was finalised during a recent meeting of the provincial apex committee.
Officials have been urged to act promptly and ensure all defensive structures contributing to unrest are dismantled.
