In a successful joint operation, the Punjab Police and Interpol arrested Arsalan Ashraf, a fugitive proclaimed offender wanted in a murder case, and repatriated him from South Africa.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Arsalan Ashraf had fled to South Africa after seriously injuring a citizen with the intention of murder. He had been on the run for three years and was wanted by the Gujranwala Police.

To facilitate his capture, the Punjab Police issued red notices through Interpol. The operation culminated in close coordination with South African authorities, resulting in Arsalan Ashraf's arrest and transfer to Pakistan.

"This marks the second arrest of an absconding fugitive abroad within the first 11 days of this year," the spokesperson noted. In 2024, Punjab Police successfully apprehended and repatriated 104 fugitives involved in serious crimes from various countries.

Inspector General police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the efforts of the RPO Gujranwala and the police team for their swift action. He emphasized the importance of completing legal proceedings promptly to ensure justice and directed authorities to enhance collaboration with the FIA and Interpol to apprehend other dangerous fugitives hiding abroad.

This operation underscores Punjab Police's unwavering commitment to bringing criminals to justice, regardless of their location.
