Rescue operation completes, 12 bodies of trapped miners recovered from Quetta mine

Rescue teams have completed relief operation and recovered all dead bodies of the miners who had been trapped under the rubble after a gas explosion inside a coalmine 40 kilometres from Quetta, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.

Chief Mines Officer Abdul Ghani Baloch told media the media that dead bodies of eight miners were recovered after rescue efforts of 60 hours. Mines Officer said after the explosion, the main entrance of the mine has closed. According to Chief Inspector Mines Abdul Ghani bodies of three miners were recovered on the first and one on second day and remaining 8 miners were recovered on Sunday from a depth of about 4,500 feet.

The accident had occurred in the coal mine in Sanjeedi on Thursday due to methane gas overflow. Officials say that teams of PDMAO mines workers jointly conducted a rescue operation to evacuate the miners. Among the deceased miners, 10 belong to Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one from Swat district and one from Balochistan. More than 70 thousand miners work in these coal mines in Balochistan.
