Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Sunday inaugurated the construction of the Major Akram Shaheed Sports Stadium in Dinga, Gujarat, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The stadium, spread over 4 acres, is expected to be completed in six months at a cost of Rs. 100 million. Designed as a multi-purpose facility, it will host cricket, football, kabaddi, and other sports competitions, offering a significant boost to local sports activities.
While addressing a packed crowd at the ceremony, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain expressed his congratulations to the people of Dinga, calling the stadium a transformative facility for the region’s youth. "This project will provide an exceptional space for sports activities, ensuring a brighter future for our young athletes," he said.
The minister criticized previous governments, accusing them of neglecting genuine development in favor of misusing resources. He contrasted this with the current administration’s achievements, which he claimed had set new benchmarks in public service within just ten months. He highlighted that a network of development projects has been initiated across Punjab.
During his speech, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain shared several government initiatives aimed at boosting economic and industrial growth. He revealed that interest-free loans are being provided to farmers to support agriculture. Toyota institutions are being upgraded to produce skilled labor in line with industrial requirements. Furthermore, the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park is being developed as a Garment City over 630 acres in Sheikhupura. Plans are also underway to transform barren land in Dinga into an industrial estate, with funds already allocated for various development projects in the area.
MPA Chaudhry Ejaz Rania, speaking on the occasion, pledged to work tirelessly alongside Chaudhry Shafay Hussain under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to address the deprivations of the region. He assured the audience of their commitment to serving the community and ensuring the area’s progress.
District Sports Officer Raheel Ahmad Bajwa also spoke at the event, highlighting minor shortcomings in the stadium project, which the provincial minister assured would be resolved to meet high standards.
The ceremony saw an overwhelming turnout of local residents, reflecting their enthusiasm for the project. Chaudhry Shafay Hussain received a grand welcome upon his arrival in Dinga. Flower petals were showered on him as he was escorted to the stadium in a buggy amidst resounding slogans of support, underscoring the community’s excitement for this new initiative.
