Pakistan Army may be deployed outside polling stations in AJK polls: Sh Rasheed

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that Imran Khan will form the government in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) in the upcoming July 25 elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Sheikh Rasheed said that along with civil-armed forces, the Pakistan Army may also be called for security purposes to ensure free and fair elections in the AJK. The Pakistan Armed Forces will be deployed outside the polling stations in the AJK, he said.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed added, “All officers of the FIA who were posted for over three years at the same station, have now been transferred. The new DG of NADRA takes action against officers with poor performance and suspends 39 officers in Karachi.”

He said that a policy statement on Afghanistan will be made by Foreign Ministry; however 90 percent border fencing has been completed at the Pak-Afghan border and the remaining would be completed in a month.

Sheikh Rasheed said that Pakistan has also completed 46 Pak-Iran border fencing and its complete work would be completed in the time span of one year.

He said Pakistan allowed 70,000 Afghan citizens to cross the border so they could get themselves and their relatives treated in Pakistan’s hospitals.

The minister also said that the government was providing 3G and 4G technology to the erstwhile FATA. He shared that summary on the TLP has been forwarded to the cabinet for a policy decision.
