Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) Tuesday approved the solarization program of National Agricultural Tube Wells on Tuesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar presided over the ECNEC meeting and approved several projects for national development.
The channel report said the meeting approved Prime Minister Solarization Program of National Agricultural Tube Wells worth Rs377.23 billion.
The report said the solar tube-wells project will be launched in all four provinces and the government will spend Rs90 billion on the project this fiscal year.
Under the programme, 1,00,000 agricultural tube wells will be converted to solar energy, the report said adding that the ECNEC has also given approval for Phase-I of Sindh Solar Energy Project worth Rs27 billion.
The meeting also approved some other projects including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Industrial Support Program, a plan to transfer 800 megawatts of electricity from Mohmand Dam to the grid in Phase-I with a cost of Rs14.31 billion 31.
While the 40 km long Lahore bypass project and the polio eradication program were also approved in the ECNEC meeting.
