A motorbike bomb blast has targeted a patrol vehicle of Counter Terrorism Department near Northern Bypass in Karachi, injuring three personnel, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The van of CTD intelligence personnel was on a secret mission in the area after receiving information about presence of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives.

The motorcycle was completely destroyed in the bomb explosion while the CTD vehicle was also damaged.

An investigation team and the bomb disposal squad of South Zone led by its incharge Ghulam Mustafa Arain rushed to the spot for analyzing the explosion site.

Ghulam Mustafa Arain said two kilograms of commercial high-explosive material was used in the motorcycle which is similar to the explosive material used in the motorbike bomb targeting the Chinese Consulate in the city but which could not explode.

He said the blast was carried out with a remote-control device.

He said this blast also has resemblance with the bomb explosion which had occurred in Kharadar Cloth Market.
He further said the damage to the CTD mobile van was not much as the vehicle was bulletproof.
