The Punjab government has decided to file a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the cancellation of the bail granted to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif in anti-state speech case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that prosecutor-general Punjab would file the petition in the LHC on behalf of the provincial government in which Latif would be made the respondent.
A court in Lahore on Wednesday (June 9) had ordered the release of PML-N leader Javed Latif on bail in anti-state speech case.
Earlier, on April 27, the law enforcing agencies had arrested Latif for his anti-state remarks made in a television programme after his bail was rejected by the session court.
A treason case was registered against him with the charges of provoking people against the state institutions at the Township Police Station in Lahore. He was arrested by the CIA officials from Saggiyan Bridge when he was returning to his hometown (Sheikhupura) from the provincial capital.
