Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa took responsibility for paying all the cost of the surgery of a 14-year-old girl Alishba who has been suffering from fanconi anemia, a rare disease passed down through families (inherited) that mainly affects the bone marrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Fanconi anemia results in decreased production of all types of blood cells.
Girl’s father Abid Hussain thanked COAS General Bajwa for bearing all the cost of the operation of his 14-year-old girl.
Abid Hussain earlier has been collecting donations for last one year to arrange for the medical treatment of her daughter.
“The COAS has paid all costs of the operation. I thank him from the core of my heart,” he said.
