A banking crimes court in Lahore on Monday approved the bail of former federal minister Moonis Elahi’s wife and others until June 16, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court granted the bail to Moonis’ wife Tehreem Elahi, sister-in-law Zara and three others in connection with a money-laundering case registered by the FIA.
The court also directed them to submit surety bonds of half a million rupees each for the interim bail.
Baking Crimes Court Judge Muhammad Aslam Gondal heard the pleas and also sought record from the FIA.
On June 8 last, a district and sessions court in Lahore had disposed of the bail petitions of Moonis Elahi’s wife Tehreem, brother and sister-in-law as withdrawn.
The petitioners’ counsel told the court that the banking court was authorized to grant bail in this case. Therefore, they should be allowed to withdraw the bail plea. The court accepted the request and disposed of the petitions as withdrawn.
