A heavy police contingent is on its toes as the federal government employees, after marching from the Pakistan Secretariat, have congregated outside the Parliament House to lodge their protest ahead of the presentation of the federal budget.

Prison vans are also ready as the protestors have reached the protest site even from outside the federal capital.

Lady health workers, lady teachers and PWD employees are among the protestors.

Speaking to the protestors on the occasion, Rehman Bajwa, Pak Secretariat Core Committee head, has urged the government to find a solution to the employees’ problems through negotiations.

Office-bearers of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance have asked the government to meet all demands of its employees.

They have demanded 100 per cent increase in the house rent, medical and conveyance allowances for employees.

Similarly, the protestors have asked the government to ensure that all its employees receive equal pay.

Another demand they have made is that amendments made to the laws governing pensions and the allotment of official residences be withdrawn.

Similarly, the protestors have demanded the federal government to introduce a system under which its employees could also be upgraded just like is the case in provinces.

They have urged the government to make the employees working on contract and ad hoc basis permanent.

The protestors have also asked the government to fix the minimum wage of a labourer at Rs50,000.
