CM Maryam Nawaz okays construction of Arfa Karim Tower-II in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has approved the construction of a 21-storey Arfa Karim Tower-II in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.    


The chief minister gave the approval at a meeting, she presided over in Lahore.  


The meeting was told that the Information Technology (IT) City, education, and Film City projects would soon be launched in the provincial capital and that Microsoft, Oracle and other big IT companies had shown their willingness to invest in the City.


The chief minister directed the concerned officials to also invite large Chinese IT firms to build their offices in the City.   


CM Maryam said that the Punjab government would provide business opportunities to the world’s leading IT companies in the City.


The chief minister also announced that the world’s best universities would be invited to build their campuses in the City so that students not only from Punjab, but from across Pakistan could study there.


She directed the concerned officials to immediately contact the heads of these educational institutions.


Similarly, she gave a go-ahead signal to the initiation of free Wi-Fi projects at 10 sites in Lahore in two weeks’ time.  


The meeting was informed that there would be free Wi-Fi points at 516 spots in the city.


The CM directed that free Wi-Fi services should be provided at Lahore’s educational institutions, the airport, railway station and bus stands on a priority basis.  


CEO CBD Imran Amin, on the occasion, gave a briefing to the meeting on the IT City and Lahore Knowledge Park projects.


Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Adviser Pervaiz Rasheed, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, the chief secretary and other concerned officials were in attendance.
