In a bid to rein in Youtubers and web TV channels, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has prepared recommendations for including these channels in the broadcast media category, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The 24News TV channel has learned that PEMRA has already sent the working paper bearing these recommendations to its members for their approval.
PEMRA has recommended making possession of licences mandatory for Youtubers and web TV channels’ owners.
The Authority has further recommended making it compulsory for the owners of these channels to pay a registration fee as well as other taxes.

Similarly, it has been suggested that these channels be run under the PEMRA laws of 2015.
Similarly, it has also been recommended to make these channels comply with a code of conduct just like mainstream TV channels.
