A police inspector of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has been arrested red-handed for taking a bribe in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to anti-corruption officials, the Anti-Corruption Department Sindh has arrested Inspector Abid Ali for accepting Rs100,000 bribe.
The accused inspector had already received Rs3 million from the family of a man named Adnan.
A man named Adnan arrived in Karachi from Dubai on March 25 to go to Europe, anti-corruption officials said.
Adnan was abducted from a private hotel in Saddar on the night of April 7.
After receiving Rs3 million from Adnan's family, another Rs800,000 was demanded.
A case has been registered against Police Inspector Abid Hussain, anti-corruption authorities said.
