The government has started distributing free flour bags in Gilgit Baltistan to influence the 2020 vote scheduled to be held on November 15.
The election commission is too silent on the act of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s team in Kashroot area of GB just two days before the elections.
The election commission has already come under fire over reports of around 1,700 fake postal ballots in Astore constituency 1, and 6,000 postal ballots in Gilgit constituency 2.
A couple of weeks ago, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz accused the PTI government of pressurising its leaders ahead of GB polls to change loyalties and openly violating the code of conduct to influence the election.
“We have strong reservations on the code of conduct violations and the use of the federal government’s machinery for the November 15 polls in Gilgit Baltistan and want the Supreme Court Gilgit Baltistan and the election commission to take notice of pre-poll rigging of the PTI government,” PML-N secretary general Ahsan Iqbal to the media.
He said the prime minister election cell staff and federal minister Amin Gandapur visited every constituency in violation of the election code of conduct.
“During the last five-year tenure of PML-N there, exemplary law and order was maintained and the province progressed economically. Now the PTI government is bent upon winning the polls through the rigging,” he said.
An alliance of the opposition parties has been on a campaign, titled Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), to topple the government alleging that the 2018 elections were rigged.
The opposition leaders have been labelling the premier as ‘selected and fake prime minister’ while the ruling party respond them with calling them ‘looters’.
