Pakistani devotees attend Nizamuddin Aulia's urs

A delegation of Pakistani Zaireen (pilgrims) on Saturday visited the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA) in India’s New Delhi to participate in the 719th annual urs of the Sufi saint.

This evening, Pakistani Zaireen accompanied by High Commissioner Aftab Hasan Khan and diplomats from the Pakistan High Commission in India, placed the traditional Chaddar at the Shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA) in Delhi. 

A group of 129 Pakistani pilgrims led by Muqeet Hassan Ali from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith harmony is in Delhi to participate in the annual urs begun from November 07-13. 

The delegation was welcomed by Sajjadah Nasheen Dewan Syed Tahir Nizami and other notable members of the Dargah Committee upon their arrival at the shrine.

After placing the Chaddar, prayers were offered. Nizami also did the dastaarbandi (traditional turban) of the high commissioner and the group leader of pilgrims on the occasion. Pilgrims also visited the shrine of Hazrat Amir Khusro (RA), which is located in the same compound, and offered prayers.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (RA) was the third spiritual successor of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (RA).

He is famous for his love for humanity as a means of realising love with the Creator. His followers are all across South Asia, including Pakistan.

His urs is attended by devotees from several countries. Pakistani pilgrims attend the annual urs under the framework of the 1974 India-Pakistan Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines.
