The Punjab government on Tuesday announced to close all government and private schools located in all districts of the province until November 17, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Director-General Punjab Environment Agency Dr Imran Hamid said that all higher schools and tuition centres of Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur districts are shut down and teaching process will continue online.
He further advised the general public to restrict their movements and avoid coming outside of their homes unnecessarily.
An alarming rise being witnessed in patients of pink eye, chest infection and other allergies.
Earlier, the worsening smog has started to impact other districts of Punjab and the provincial government shut down schools in five more divisions – Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi.
These schools have been closed till November 17 and notification in this regard has been issued.
Director General Environment Department Punjab said that there has been an increase in the number of patients with pink eye, chest infection and various allergies in other districts of the province.
However, teaching process will be online in all schools up to class 12th, the DG Environment said.
The DG said people should not go out of their homes unnecessarily.
Schools have already been closed in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan divisions. As per notification, private tuition centers will also be closed till November 17.
