The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said that after the government repaid Rs792 billion in September, 2024, the overall loan, which stood at Rs70362 billion in August, was reduced to Rs69570 billion in the following month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The SBP has further said that the amount the government had to repay in September 2023 stood at Rs62291 billion. “In one year, the loan jumped by Rs7279 billion,” the bank informed.
Similarly, it said, the domestic debt during the ongoing year came down by Rs803 billion to reach Rs47536 billion. “It was Rs7838 billion in September, 2023,” the bank said, adding, “The foreign debt in September, 2024 jumped by Rs11 billion to reach Rs22034 billion.”
However, it informed, compared with September, 2023, the debt was reduced by Rs560 billion in September, 2024.
