PML-N Vice-president Maryam Nawaz on Monday said removing the Oct 12-like dark days from the future history was the mission of Nawaz Sharif, the party supremo.
Describing Oct 12 as a dark day when former dictator Pervez Musharraf had removed the elected government of Nawaz in a coup, Maryam said it usher in the nine-year-long blind and deaf dictatorship.

The respect of vote was trampled, the Constitution was insulted and democracy was killed on Oct 12, she remarked in a tweet.
In another tweet, Maryam remarked that Nawaz’s mission was the same as announced by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at the Command and Staff College, Quetta in 1948, which meant that “respect the vote”.
She was referring to Quaid’s statement in the speech where he said, “Do not forget that the armed forces are the servants of the people. You do not make national policy; it is we, the civilians, who decide these issues and it is your duty to carry out these tasks with which you are entrusted.”
Similarly, PML-N leader Ishaq Dar in a video message said Musharraf, who was responsible for the human and financial losses suffered by Pakistan in the Kargil episode, had attacked democracy and bulldozed the Constitution yet again on Oct 12.
“Unfortunately, our judiciary too supported that. This game of committing treason must come to an end forever, he added.
Dar also said that effects of the “covert martial law” imposed in 2017 through the Panama drama – just like the Oct 12 martial law – were visible in the shape of destruction caused by the government selected in 2018, plundering of trillions of rupees and inflation hurricane.
