The heater prices have soared by 30% to 40% ahead of winter, making them unaffordable for most people, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
As per details, the rising inflation caused price spiral, and there is a potential that people will likely to experience more price hikes during the coming winter. Nowadays, having a heater is considered a luxury because so few people can afford one.
The cost of small heater was Rs700 last year but it is now available for Rs1,500 this year.
Meanwhile, the cost of large heater was Rs2,000 last year, but it will be sold for Rs3,500 this year.
According to shopkeepers, the customers come in to purchase heaters but leave disappointed after learning about the prices. They lamented that the inflation has taken away the purchasing power of the middle-income groups.
