Judge Asif Bashir of the Special Court Anti-Corruption in the Sahiwal Region has rejected the bail application of Khawar Manika, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
Khawar Manika, now held in Okara Jail on judicial remand, faces a litany of accusations related to the alleged occupation of land belonging to the endowment department. The charges extend beyond mere land encroachment, encompassing the construction of shops and marriage halls, with authorities estimating losses amounting to crores for the government.
Adding to the legal complexity, Khawar Manika's son, Musa Manika, faced an early setback as the anti-corruption court rejected his bail application on procedural grounds even before his arrest.
The arrest of Khawar Manika, carried out by the anti-corruption authorities in Lahore, is a pivotal development in the ongoing investigation.
The charges against Khawar Manika include not only legal violations but also allegations of causing substantial financial losses to the government.
