The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday submitted a report to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq about its crackdown on illegal foreign exchange companies and hundi-hawala businesses across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the FIA report, the crackdown on illegal foreign exchange companies and hundi-hawala businesses was carried out from August 15 up until now.
The performance report of the FIA was also presented to the prime minister according to which over Rs150 million were recovered and 59 accused arrested in 48 raids.
The FIA has registered 48 FIRs and 11 inquiries so far. Out of 11 inquiries, nine have been converted into cases.
The FIA seized over $100,000, over 22 million in other currencies and Rs98.3 million during the crackdown.
