The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday declared the acquisition of land for the construction of Dadhocha Dam as legal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah issued the 12-page written verdict, declaring the land acquisition for the dam near Rawalpindi as legal.

“A new estimate should be made to compensate the land owners,” the court said.

“A notification can be issued in the official gazette regarding the provision of land for the public good,” it added.

“The notification issued for the acquisition of the land for the construction of the dam is in accordance with law,” it ruled.

“Compensation for the land owners should be estimated afresh under the notification of the acquisition of additional lands,” it ordered.

“Before re-estimating the compensation, the aspect of the increasing value of the land should be taken into consideration,” it added.
