Parts of Karachi Central sealed amid coronavirus threat

Amid the alarming increase in the new coronavirus cases, the Karachi East deputy commissioner on late Sunday ordered complete lockdown in areas falling under six union councils.
According to a notification, union council 15, 22, 24, 25, 45 and 47 are affected by the latest move which followed a similar decision taken by the administration in Karachi East on Friday.
The details of the areas to be affected by complete lockdown are:
Sector 7 D/2 in UC 15, Block F Haideri North Nazimabad UC 22, Sector 15-A Buffer Zone UC 24, Sector 15-B Buffer Zone UC 25, Nazimabad No 2, 3 and 4 in UC 45, and Nazimabad No 5-A and 5-C.
The abovementioned areas fall under seven police stations, as the deputy commissioner said the lockdown had been imposed according to the Home Department’s SOPs (standard operating procedures).
On the other hand, the lockdown imposed in the various areas of Karachi East has been tightened, as all the thoroughfares were blocked by placing containers Gulshanabad which had been declared most sensitive locality in the district.
Same is the case with other parts of the district, as the main crossing in Dalmia, Gulshan Chowk, has been completely blocked by police.
