Ramazan crescent sighted in Pakistan

The Ramazan crescent has been sighted in Pakistan and the Muslims in Pakistan will observe the first fast on Wednesday, reported 24News HD TV channel.

The announcement was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

According to the details, the moon was sighted first in Lahore and later the moon was sighted in Gujranwala, Bannu, Karachi Peshawar, Islamabad, Hyderabad and other cities of the country.

It would also be the first time in years when the whole country would observe the holy month of Ramazan on the same day.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said the country will observe fasting on the same days and hoped that they will also celebrate Eidul Fitr on one day.

The members of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met today (Tuesday) in Peshawar to sight the Ramazan crescent.

Earlier, the Met Office has also suggested the strong possibility of moon sighting today as its age has become over 35 hours at the sunset.

Chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad has also has also extended an invitation to Mufti Popalzai to attend the meeting.

It may be recalled that Maulana Azad was appointed by the federal government in December last year, replacing Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

Earlier, Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry inaugurated Islamabad Space Observatory. Chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabirwas also present on the occasion.

The moon sighting was also a win-win situation for Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry as he had claimed 10 days earlier that the crescent of Ramazan 1442 AH will be sighted on the evening of April 13 and the first of Ramazan will be on the 14th April, 2021.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the moon will be clearly sighted in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.
