The government issued directives to renew the passports of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and ex-finance minister Ishaq Dar , 24NewsHD TV channel reported Tuesday.
According to sources, the passports of Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar will be renewed in 48 hours.
Directives have been issued to authorities concerned including the staff of the Pakistan High Commission in the UK.
The development comes a day after the younger brother of Nawaz – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif – took oath as the premier.
The Khan-led government had refused to renew Nawaz's passport after it expired in February last year.
Nawaz Sharif was granted an eight-week bail on medical grounds in October 2019, and a month later, he was allowed to travel abroad for treatment for four weeks — but he is still in London.
