The Kemari Police, in collaboration with a sensitive agency, foiled a major attempt to smuggle mobile phones worth Rs50 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Captain (R) Faizan Ali, the police intercepted a specially modified Revo vehicle near Macho Police Check-Post.
Upon thorough inspection, they recovered a total of 618 high-end mobile phones, including 198 iPhones, 509 Android smartphones, and 40 non-PTA devices used for iPhone operations.
The SSP stated that the smugglers had tactfully concealed the mobile phones in secret compartments of the vehicle. Two suspects, identified as Noor Ullah and Mohammad Hashim, were arrested on the spot for their involvement in the smuggling bid.
All confiscated items, including the vehicle, will be handed over to customs authorities for further legal proceedings after the completion of police formalities.
