Amid the worldwide trend of the US dollar witnessing depreciation in recent days, the world’s top currency continued shedding some of its value against the rupee in Pakistan too, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
In inter-bank exchange rate, the dollar was down by 14 paisas and closed the session at Rs167.93. The loss made in open market was 10 paisas as the dollar was available for Rs168.40.
However, it means that both euro and pound sterling are making gains. That’s why the euro gained Rs1.06 and the pound nine paisas in inter-bank rate. The two currencies were thus traded for Rs198.67 and Rs219.68 respectively.
But their values remained stable in open market where the euro was available for Rs199 and the pound for Rs 221.
During the current week, the dollar has so far gained only six paisas in inter-bank rate while its net progress in open market is zero despite the fact that it smashed all the records by reaching the value of Rs169 in open market on Monday.
In the case of euro, it has 12 paisas in inter-bank rate and lost 50 paisas in open market. Similarly, the pound shed 10 paisas in inter-bank rate while there is no net movement in open market.
