As part of a unique initiative, a madrassah has been set up for transgender people in Islamabad.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat inaugurated the madrassah on Saturday and announced that transgender people will be given jobs at the offices of the Islamabad administration.

On this occasion, the Islamabad deputy commissioner also distributed blankets to transgender people with the help of a non-government organisation.

Members of the transgender community thanked the Islamabad deputy commissioner for his participation in the event.
