Provincial Agriculture Minister Asad Baloch has said the torrential rains and floods have caused a loss of Rs300 billion to growers of Balochistan province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was expressing his views on the point of order during the Balochistan assembly session on Tuesday.

Asad Baloch said the federal government had received Rs200 billion from the international community while it had announced to give only Rs26 billion to Balochistan province. “But the coalition government did not give even a single penny to Balochistan for relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected areas of the province. This indiscrimination should be stopped immediately,” Asad Baloch told the session.

Provincial lawmakers from both sides of the assembly regretted that Balochistan was being ignored when it came to flood relief.

The Balochistan Assembly’s Tuesday session was chaired by Chairman of the Panel Qadir Ali Nail.

At the beginning of the session, Fateha was offered for those killed by Afghan forces firing at the Chaman border recently.

The Opposition leader Malik Sikandar also spoke on the point of order and observed that the legislation is being passed without the approval of the Standing Committee which has hurt the sanctity of the provincial assembly.

Balochistan National Party (BNP) member Akbar Mengal raised objection by saying that their speeches and resolutions are not being given any importance. He termed the Balochistan Assembly useless.

“The resources of Balochistan should be given to its representatives and if this injustice continues, the situation will be out of controlled,” he warned.

Later, the assembly session was adjourned till December 16 (Friday) at 3.00 pm.
