The bicycle prices have been doubled in Karachi’s market, taking away the purchasing power of poor’s only luxury, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The price of children’s bicycle has been more than doubled to Rs2,500 from the pervious price Rs1,200.
Meanwhile, the racing cycles have also witnessed a hike in prices, rising to Rs25,000 from Rs18,000.
The leading bicycle manufacturer companies Beco, Eagle, Sohrab, and Rustam have raised their prices.
According to the sellers, the bicycle prices have witnessed a surge because the material, except frame and clamp, is imported from China.
On the other hand, the skyrocketing prices of the bicycles have left the poor citizens distressed. They said that everything including basic necessities has become expensive and out of the reach of average people.
