PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that his younger sister Aseefa Bhutto Zardari will take over the party if he was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Talking to newsmen after appearing in NAB Rawalpindi office on Thursday, Bilawal said he had detailed discussions with the NAB officers and was given a questionnaire by the Bureau.
According to reports, the PPP chairman was given a questionnaire based on 32 queries after he could not give answers that could satisfy the NAB officers, and was asked to submit the replies within two weeks.
Bilawal told newsmen that the whenever he raised voice against the political victimization the NAB sent him a notice to appear before it. “The Chief Justice of Pakistan had declared that Bilawal is innocent but the notices keep coming,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that the NAB Rawalpindi summoned Bilawal in a Joint Venture (JV) Opal 255 corruption case. Bilawal is accused of taking out an amount of Rs1.22 billion from a fake bank account to utilize it for his personal company.
Bilawal told newsmen in Rawalpindi on Thursday “The NAB has nothing to do with the case even if I was involved in it. NAB has no jurisdiction over private transactions between the two parties. I was not even a public office-holder at that time.”
He further said “I answered NAB’s questions about a year ago. From May to January they had no objections over my answers but they now suddenly woke up and issued me a notice. It’s political harassment on their part.”
The PPP chief said his party will continue to protest against ‘PTIMF’ as it is leading to the ‘economic murder’ of the farmers, labourers and poor people.
Responding to a question, he said keeping in view the number of issues the country is staring at today the role of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly is very important.
