PML-N will support PPP candidate from Islamabad Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in the coming Senate elections as the former prime minister was declared qualified to contest the election from the federal capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the TV channel, the PML-N leadership said Yousaf Raza Gilani will be their consensus candidate. The leadership directed senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to accompany Yousaf Raza Gilani as he goes to the ECP office to submit his nomination papers on Saturday.
Moreover, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also accepted Gilani’s application for transferring vote to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, as the ECP extended date of filing of nomination papers for Senate elections, the PPP has expressed reservation over the Commission’s move.
PPP leader Sherry Rehman said as the candidates of her party submitted their nomination papers the date has been extended. “It seems someone’s papers are still incomplete,” she added.
On Saturday, more PPP candidates filed their nomination papers. They included Farooq H Naek, Mandviwalla, Sherry Rehman, Palwasha Khan and Taj Haider. PTI’s Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh also submitted his papers.
The JUI-F candidates including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Kamran Murtaza, Khalil Buledi, Haiman Das and Aasiya Nasir also submitted their nomination papers in Quetta on Saturday.
