Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Haji Zubair has unofficially won the elections for Peshawar Mayorship in re-polling on Sunday.
While the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Umer Amin Gandapur is in a leading position for the mayorship of Dera Ismail Khan (DIK) with a good margin.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, JUI-F candidate Haji Zubair Ali has won the mayor seat with a total of 63,418 votes. Rizwan Bangash of the ruling PTI came second with 51,395 votes.
Haron Sift, JUI-F candidate for Tehsil Chairman has also won the seat after a tough contest.
In the re-polling of the first phase of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local body elections in 13 districts, counting of votes continued at the polling station and results are being compiled.
According to the unofficial results of 116 polling stations out of total of 296 polling stations, for the Mayorship of DI Khan, PTI’s Umar Amin Gandapur has received 21,916 votes.
JUI-F candidate Kafeel Ahmad Nizami is behind Gandapur with 17,423 votes.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Faisal Kareem Kundi is contesting with 10,800 votes for the third position.
