Army should not be dragged into politics: Parvez Elahi

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the country is presently victim of internal and external difficulties. He said army is a neutral institution and it should not be dragged into politics.
He was talking to independent candidate from PP-179 Kasur, political and social personality Rana Mumtaz Ali who called on him at his residence here on Wednesday and announced to join Pakistan Muslim League (PML).
Ch Parvez Elahi said that Pakistan Army and administrative institutions has always served the country and the nation staying neutral.
He whenever the country faced difficult time Army and the institutions fully participated, be it flood, earthquake, internal and external terrorism, Pakistan forces have faced all these undauntedly, all institutions including Pak Army has always attached first priority to security of Pakistan.
On this occasion, Rana Mumtaz Ali said that Ch Parvez Elahi as Chief Minister Punjab launched rescue service, provided free medicines, free books in schools, all these are such works which were never done earlier in the history of Pakistan.
He said, impressed by political and social services of Ch Parvez Elahi we have on our own have established social welfare institutions for serving the people of Kasur whereas the institution for the special children established by Ch Parvez Elahi is still functional in Kasur.
