There seems to be no end in sight to fog in Punjab at least in the near future as different sections of the motorway were closed for traffic on Saturday as dense fog considerably reduced visibility on roads, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The visibility was so poor in some places that objects just a few meters away could not be seen.
The duration of the fog has prolonged due to low temperatures.
According to the spokesman for the Motorway Police (MP), M 3, from Faizpur to Darkhana, M 4, from Multan to Faisalabad, and M 5, from Sher Shah to Zahir Pir, were closed after they were blanketed by fog.
The situation was no different on highways where traffic moved at a snail’s pace due to poor visibility.
Doctors counsel people to exercise caution
On the other hand, doctors have advised people to remain cautious since extremely cold weather has resulted in the spread of seasonal diseases.
The Met Office forecast dry weather for Lahore and other parts of Punjab during the next 24 hours.
It said that the level of humidity in the air in the morning was recorded at 87 per cent while breeze was blowing at the speed of three kilometers per hour.
