Faiza Hassan, a seasoned actress, has opened up about the insecurities faced by male actors in their 50s, especially when it comes to working alongside women of a similar age.
Speaking on a morning show, she shed light on a ‘deep-rooted issue’ in the media industry, where male actors often feel ‘threatened’ by their female counterparts.
The Aapa Shamim star said: “Actors above 50 don’t want to work with us. They feel kind of threatened or insecure, believing that by working with younger actresses, they can appear youthful themselves.”
Faiza explained how these male actors not only prefer working with younger women to maintain their own image but also fear being overshadowed by female counterparts of their age.
“Many actors feel that we, as middle-aged women, might overpower them,” she added.
Actress Javeria Saud also chimed in, claiming that the wives of these middle-aged actors often play a role in this dynamic.
“They’ve told me they prefer seeing their husbands with younger girls on screen,” Javeria Saud explained, shedding light on the underlying pressures that actors face both personally and professionally.
