Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Monday that former prime minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif served the nation for 45 years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Maskan-e-Ravi Housing Scheme, Maryam claimed that whenever there would be a mention of the country’s nuclear programme and its development, Nawaz’s name would be mentioned as well. “Be it the elimination of loadshedding from the country or any development project, it bears the stamp of the PML-N. This all is the vision of the former prime minister. And we are taking steps in the light of his vision only as his soldiers,” she added.

Under the housing scheme, the chief minister went on to say, people belonging to low-income groups would be allotted homes. “Already the Punjab government is giving interest-free loans under the ‘Apna Ghar, Apni Chat’ programme,” she said, adding, “Over two million people in the province don’t have homes of their own.”

Maryam promised to provide homes to 0.1 million people every year.

She said that the provincial government was going to launch a new scheme under which three-marla plots would be allotted to homeless people. “400 roads are being built in the province,” she said, and added, “As many as 25 electric buses have reached Karachi. And they will reach Lahore soon.”
