ECP Scrutiny Committee summons PTI on July 15 in foreign funding case

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Scrutiny Committee has summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on 15 July, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

The PTI has been directed to appear before the ECP scrutiny committee on July 15 and in case of non-appearance, the matter will be referred to the Commission, the notice of the Scrutiny Committee said.

It may be mentioned here that PTI founding member Akbar S. Babar, has filed a petition against the alleged foreign funding of PTI.

The ECP has asked the scrutiny committee to submit a report on the funding of political parties by August 17. The latest directions were given in the detailed June 2, 2020 order of the ECP released on Wednesday.

The PTI foreign funding case has been pending with the Election Commission since November 2014.
