New wet spell entering tomorrow and will bring widespread rains till July 17

A new monsoon spell of wet showers enters Pakistan tomorrow which will bring heavy, to very heavy rain in many areas of country including rain-battered Karachi and Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to the Pakistan Metrological Department, a new rainy spell is entering on July 14 and it will continue till July 17. Like previous monsoon spell, it will also be strong and bring heavy showers in Karachi that may lead to urban flooding. 

The recent heavy rains started from July 4 in Karachi have already wrecked it as the entire city was inundated in rainwater during Eid days. Another heavy spell is ringing alarm bells for the administration. 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the federal and provincial civic bodies to closely monitor the safety measures ahead of the monsoon spell starting Thursday.

He asked the authorities concerned to ensure a proper precautionary system for the people across the country including Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab.

So far, at least 20 people have lost their lives in separate rain-related incidents in Karachi. According to a police report, 13 citizens got electrocuted, two drowned while others died in incidents of roofs and wall collapse.

The Met office reported on Sunday night the city received up to 106.6mm of rain that intensified on Monday morning to 126.6mm.

The Pakistan Metrological Department also issued rain forecast for many areas today. 

Heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm and strong wind is expected to lash Islamabad. 

Many areas of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, khushab, Bhakkar, Layya, multan, Rajan Pur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Potohar will receive rain

Different areas in Lahore received showers early this morning making weather pleasant with mercury level dropping to 28 degree Celsius. 

Heavy downpour is expected to pound Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas including Dir, Kohistan, Buner, Bannu, Mardan, Peshawar, Kurram, Nowshera, Haripur, Manshera, and Abbottabad. 

The Met office predicted rain for Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Mithi, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Islam Kot, and Mirpur Khas in Sindh.

Many areas in rain-wrecked Balochistan including Kharan, Zhob, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Makran, Turbat, Gwadar, Qalat, Khuzdar, Panjgor and Awaran will again receive downpour. 

According to PMD, heavy sleet will lash many areas in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
